If you thought you’ve been seeing Michael Jackson down your timeline lately, you’re not entirely wrong. Sophia Casanova dressed up as the late pop icon for a video titled “Creepy Michael Jackson Impression” with the gifted hands of make-up artist, Spencer Lopez.

However, it was a behind-the-scenes photo that went viral this week as many thought it was a guy’s girlfriend who resembled the Bad creator. “My girl look so cute off guard,” tweeted the social media user, who ended up pulling everyone’s leg. However, the tweet has since been retweeted over 12,000 times and gained over 10,000 likes. But it’s the responses that have kept the joke going. In between takes, Casanova, in casual clothing and still made up as MJ, was texting on her phone in the viral photo. “Probably texting Annie to see if she’s okay,” read a tweet that became one of the most popular responses by gaining over 18,000 retweets and over 15,000 likes.

“She finna tell u ‘the kiiiiid is not my son’,” read another as a tweeter questioned whether MJ pulled a real “Thriller” and rose from the dead.

But what later went viral started out as a simple Vine video. “It was just something to put online that we thought would be funny,” Casanova told The Urban Twist. Many people have told the model that she looks like Michael Jackson as well — which Lopez says is integral to create the look.

“The number one thing that you have to have is a face that already resembles MJ,” said Lopez, who has worked as a make-up artist for ten years. “The whole reason we did it is because we knew it would be easy.” Lopez’ specialty is not in theatrical make-up, but she definitely has some skills. The entire look came together in “about 2 albums worth” — or 45 minutes, said Casanova. They even listened to MJ’s hits to get them inspired.

“It just happened, the stars aligned,” said Lopez. “I look like him and it worked,” added Casanova.

The video, where she impersonates the King of Pop, shows Casanova hiding in closets and hitting some dance moves to Juvenile’s “Back That A– Up.” and Silento’s “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae).” “Watch me whip, watch me MJ,” says someone off screen as Casanova grabs her crotch.

The New York native, who works as a model, now lives in Las Vegas and often crafts funny videos for Vine and Instagram. She recently shared a photo of herself as Ziggy Stardust, one of late David Bowie’s personas, as well. Fans of her work will likely catch her taking on the role again too. “I’ll probably still be Michael again,” she said. And one things for certain, there’s still more funny content to come.
