Jennifer Hudson Wins Oscar…Eddie Loses…Forrest Wins Too!

On the biggest night in Hollywood, everyone pretty much stuck to the script…almost. Jennifer Hudson won an Oscar. So did Forrest Whitaker. Unfortunately, Eddie Murphy didn\’t.

On a night when stars shone bright, no one could deny that Jennifer Hudson\’s was the brightest. Her story is very well documented. She went from being an \’American Idol\’ reject to becoming an Academy-Award winning actress. It just doesn\’t get any better than this for the \’Dreamgirls\’ star.

And on a very historical night for Black actors, for which it seemed poised that three of them would walk away with statues, unfortunately one of them did not.

Yes, Jennifer Hudson walked away with her statue in the best supporting actress category for her debut, head-turning role as Effie White in \’Dreamgirls\’. And yes, Forrest Whitaker, took home his in the leading actor category for his frightful yet charismatic performance as Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in \’The Last King of Scotland\’.

The surprise of the night was brought to you by Eddie Murphy, who was upset by Alan Arkin of \’Little Miss Sunshine\’ fame.

Eddie was heavily favored to win for his role as James \’Thunder\’ Early in \’Dreamgirls\’ and when the winner was announced for the best supporting actor category, you could kind of feel the suspense that covered the audience in the packed auditorium at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.

Was it Norbit\’s, Rasputia\’s or Mr. Wong\’s fault that Eddie lost on a chance of a lifetime. The questions begin to mount as many blame Eddie\’s latest release \’Norbit\’ as his potential downfall.

Whatever it was, no one can rain on my parade as I watched Destiny\’s Child IV (Beyonce, Jennifer, & Anika Noni Rose) perform some songs from \’Dreamgirls\’.

And speaking of Destiny\’s Child and Beyonce. I noticed how Hov wasn\’t sitting with you ma. If the rumors indeed are true, just give this brotha a chance for to \”upgrade you\”, lol.

And on another Eddie note: Did anyone else notice how inconspicuously absent he was after they announced the winner in his category. One can\’t help but think, did he bolt after he lost the award. Eddie, say it ain\’t so man! I hope you\’re not a sore loser. There are millions of people who could only dream to have 1% of the type of career that you have.

Who knows as to whether or not Eddie bolted, but like his boy Arsenio would say \”things that make you go hmmm…\”
