Yesterday Actor Leslie Nielsen passed away and a part of my childhood died as well. I will always remember Mr. Nielsen from his famous film roles in the 80’s such as in Airplane! and the Naked Gun series, in which the characters in which he played were always dead serious in tone which vastly contradicted the absurdity that surrounded him for much of the films.
Just him being able to hold a straight face in the midst of all that comedic awesomeness (if that’s a word) was a sight to see. Not too mention that he helped put O.J. on the map in Hollywood before he supposedly went all crazy on us.
He’s probably best remembered as Lt. Frank Drebin in The Naked Gun series of pictures, but who enjoyed a more than 60 year career in motion pictures and television.
He will most certainly be missed. R.I.P.
