Wasn’t Carmelo a Knick just a week ago? A few weeks before that he was a Net? And now it appears that he may be going to La La land to be Kobe’s “Scottie Pippen”.
An ESPN report says that the Lakers were in preliminary talks with Denver for the Nuggets’ all-star forward.
It was said that Carmelo’s wife La La Vasquez has major influence over where her husband winds up. The media personality would prefer to go somewhere that is in the center of entertainment industry and it gets no bigger than Hollywood, though winding up in New York wouldn’t be bad as well.
The report said the deal would revolve around Andrew Bynum for Anthony, though a team source told the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday that the Lakers were unwilling to trade the 23-year-old center who has been plagued by knee problems.
As with all trade talk, only time will tell. But if I’m Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak, I’m pulling the trigger on this one, but then again the two-time defending champs has already proved that they can win without him, so do they really need him?
