According to the NY Post, Jay-Z’s club 40/40 has been shut down due to several health code violations.
Some of the violations cited include hot food left out in the open, refrigerators kept at 60° and workers spotted mixing salads with their bare hands. The New York City Department of Health cited several other violations during their inspection, which led to the closure of the bar on Thursday night.
Although the club has been listed as “closed by Health Department” on the New York City Health Department’s website, the club is said to have been open for business last night.
The club’s representative explained that the health violations arose as a series of unfortunate events. He explained that one of the refrigerators suffered from a malfunction minutes before the health inspectors arrived, but the problem was rectified shortly after.
The club has not suffered from loss of business at the moment and their health code score is under pending review.
