It’s an extremely sad day for Steelers Nation as it appears that the Steelers are planning to release its franchise leader Hines Ward.

The former DWTS contestant will be released from his contract before the 2012 NFL calendar year.

The four-time pro bowl selection and MVP of the 2006 Super Bowl will finish his career with a pretty impressive team record of 1,000 catches, 12,083 yards and 85 receiving touchdowns. Hines was clearly an essential part of the team and a fan fave.

Hines who was hoping to end his career as a Steeler might have to pick up his career else where. The question is who will he go to? And who will be the first to grab him?

Where ever he goes, he will be sure to help get that team to the top and maybe even to the Super Bowl.
