If you logged onto Facebook recently within the past few days, you can almost not get around seeing the name Joseph Kony. But who is Joseph Kony? And why is everybody talking about him?

Joseph Rao Kony is the leader of the guerilla group LRA (Lord’s Resistance Army) in Uganda / Africa. He is responsible for abducting an estimated 66.000 children and forcing them to fight and kill for his army. Additionally he is personally responsible for killing, rape, mutilations, and the list goes on and on.

He is number one on the International Criminals Court list in The Hague but up til now he has evaded capture. But the campaign “Kony 2012 – Invisible Children” is going to change that this year…hopefully!

Through the voice of the people of America, “Invisible Children” convinced the US government to send US soldiers to Uganda to help the Ugandan Army arrest Kony. But Kony is still not captured and the US government might decide to pull back their forces. Unless the American people keep demanding justice!

The purpose of the video and the campaign is to make Joseph Kony famous, to make people all over the world care and force international leaders to act and stop him. Together we can change the world. “Nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time is now.”

“This video is about Joseph Kony and I’m going to tell you exactly how we are going to stop him.”
