As expected the Los Angles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies playoff series is going to be a battle. These two teams faced off in the first round of last year’s playoffs and the series came down to a game 7 in Memphis, which the Clippers won. Now the Clippers find themselves in the very same situation going up against a very difficult Grizzlies team.
The Clippers haven’t backed down though, having home court advantage and definitely taking advantage of it winning the first two games of the series. The Clippers won game one in a very convincing fashion, with a 112 to 91 victory. After losing like that, there was no way Memphis was going to come in and have the same fate, fighting back to almost secure the victory.
The Grizzlies and Clippers are similar but oh so different. Both teams are known for their dynamic front court presence but for two completely different reasons. Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol just straight up bang in the paint, they play that old school kind of game. These two play close to basket and defend their paint like its home, neither are known for their athleticism but more for their strength and how they can control the game from the paint.
The Clippers are a different story as their two big men, Blake Griffin & DeAndre Jordan are the most athletic big men I’ve ever seen in my life. These two are known for their athleticism, as they throw down vicious dunks night in and night out and run the floor like guards. Even with all that front court star power, it was two of the purest point guards in the game to take over.
I always say Mike Conley was like a middle class man’s Chris Paul and he showed it as the two battled back and forth throughout the night. Conley had the advantage stats wise getting 28 points and 9 assists over Paul’s 24 and 9…but Chris Paul got the last laugh.
