So when was the last time you’ve seen people wear overalls or have worn them yourself? I was a 90’s kid so I grew up with them. It was my go-to outfit, but I soon got over it after the age of 12! Recently I’ve seen this Overall (also known as Dungarees or Jumpsuits) trend everywhere, especially denim ones. It’s a huge trend for Spring this season, but I’m not exactly sure how I feel about this. See, this is what I think of when I hear the word ‘Overalls’:
I think of unflattering silhouettes that are really only meant to be worn by children. But maybe I’m wrong? Big name designers like, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Ruffian, Rebecca Minkoff, and BCBG Max Azria (below, left to right) have redesigned the denim look and I’m not going to lie, it looks pretty good.
Even celebrities have jumped on the bandwagon!
I admit, some of these looks are cute, but I still have some doubts about this trend because I think only a few body types can pull this look off. I guess I’m going to have to personally try one on and see how it looks. These are some of my favorite overalls that I’ve seen:
Left to Right:
From Topshop – MOTO VINTAGE DENIM DUNGAREES, KHAKI WASHED DUNGAREE, PINI TAPERED JUMPSUIT
From Zara – LONG JUMPER WITH LOW BACK, VINTAGE DENIM JUMPER SHORTS, ETHNIC DENIM JUMPER
So what do you guys think of this Overall trend? Do you think it’s going to last more than one season?
