May 6th was the night of The Costume Institute Gala or more popularly known as the Met Ball or Met Gala. This year celebrated the opening of the Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibition so of course the theme was Punk. Celebrities definitely pulled out all the stops for this fashionable event. Everyone looked fabulous and amazing, but there were a few that really caught my attention. These were the
Best Dressed ladies of the night in my eyes!
Miranda Kerr can do no wrong in my eyes. She looked so hot in her Michael Kors dress. She paired the dress with Tabitha Simmons shoes, Cartier jewels, and a Christian Louboutin purse. Katie Holmes looked so flawless and angelic in this Calvin Klein Collection dress and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Her look was so soft and delicate that it was little out of place at this Punk event. She still looked amazing though. Jourdan Dunn. The only word I have to say is PERFECTION. This Topshop dress is amazing. I love the bare shoulders and sheer skirt. Perfect, just perfect. I’m usually not a big fan of these half dress-half pants type of looks, but Jessica Pare’s Jason Wu top and pants look gorgeous. She also had on Jason Wu shoes and clutch with Delfina Delettrez jewelry. I’m such a sucker for dresses with cut outs! Jessica Alba looked so good in this a Tory Burch dress, Jack Vartanian jewels, Christian Louboutin shoes and bag, and a Fallon hair accessory. Jennifer Lawrence looked so put together and elegant in this Christian Dior dress and jewelry. Her Brian Atwood shoes add the perfect “punk” touch. She topped the look off with a Jennifer Behr headband. I’m in love withe cut outs on this Prabal Gurung dress! It’s so edgy and sexy! Punk done right. The plunging neckline on this custom Burberry dress is to die for. The custom Jennifer Fisher necklace adds a nice elegant touch. Blake Lively looked absolutely stunning in this Gucci Première pale green silk georgette strapless gown with silver and matte black feather motif embroideries. The skirt features layers of black organza that cascade into a dramatic train. She topped the look off with Christian Louboutin shoes and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. This look is just perfect! I love how she styled it with the sleek pulled back hair. This custom Altuzarra gown is daring and I love it! The sheer parts are sexy but not too overbearing. I think Allison Williams pulls off the dress very well. It doesn’t look like it’s wearing her.
Of course if there’s a Best Dressed list there has to be a
Worst Dressed one. I hate to do this, but…I just can’t believe these celebs left the house wearing this.
SJP showed up to the event wearing a Giles Deacon dress, Philip Treacy punk couture hat, Fred Leighton and Repossi jewelry, Giles Deacon bag, and Louboutin boots. She’s always known for her fashion forward outfits but I really think she missed the ball with this one. The print of the dress and the boots do not look good together. Miley Cyrus wore a Marc Jacobs dress with Prada shoes and Eddie Borgo jewelry. I think I may have liked this more if she styled it better. I know the theme is punk, but she just looked crazy. Madonna had on a Givenchy outfit and Casadei shoes. She definitely took the punk theme a little too far. I don’t know what she was thinking. Sorry Madonna, you’re not 16 anymore. Kristen Stewart was head-to-toe Stella McCartney. This outfit wasn’t completely terrible, but the bottom half of the outfit just looks so unflattering on her. They made her hips look wider than they actually are and the pants don’t do her long legs justice at all. Kim Kardashian wore a Riccardo Tisci dress and gloves with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. I hate to insult a pregnant woman, but she looked absolutely awful. The print of this dress is just too much and did not flatter her in any way. Kate Upton chose a Diane von Furstenberg dress and purse with H. Stern earrings and three Diane von Furstenberg by H. Stern bracelets. This is the Met Ball, it’s all about glitz and glamour and everyone is suppose to go all out. This dress is a complete yawn-fest. She looks like she’s going to a pool party. Julianne Hough had on a a Topshop dress, Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, a Calvin Klein clutch, and Jacob & Co. jewelry. This dress reminds me of spider webs. I think she tried to go for Punk but got Halloween instead. Coco Rocha came in a Fausto Puglisi gown. I’m already not a big fan of animal prints, but what really made me confused was the weird looking feather things all around her shoulders, chest, and neck. Christina Ricci wore a Vivienne Westwood Couture gown with Casadei shoes, a Ferragamo bag, and Harry Winston jewels. I appreciate her efforts for the “punk princess” look, but no. Ashley Green chose a black and gold Marchesa gown with Harry Winston jewels. I had better expectations for her. She has such a hot bod and this dress doesn’t do anything for it.
