An unidentified school employee, who was working a second job as an armed security officer, accidentally shot a student at Rangeview High School in Aurora, Colorado on Monday.
The names of the student and the employee have not been released.
The security officer offered the student a ride home, tried to put his gun in the glove department of his car, but the weapon discharged and shot the student in the leg, reported KMGH-TV.
After the accidental shooting in the school parking lot, the man took the student to a nearby hospital. The student had surgery for a “significant injury”.
Police did not say if the school employee would face charges. The security guard works at the school, but is not a teacher.
