When NBA 2K13 came out I remember going to Game Stop at midnight to cop my already pre-ordered copy. Then I remembered celebrating like something monumental happened. Then after that I remember playing a few games and then missing class the next day.
When NBA 2K12 came out the NBA was going through a lockout and the season looked in jeopardy. I remember being broke and somehow mustering up the money to get that too (pretty sure I sold a game or two). Well the point is when a new NBA 2k comes out it’s serious!
I remember when 2k had competition with the NBA Live franchise which seems like forever ago. NBA Live hasn’t released a game in years and has now gone under the name NBA Elite (which has yet to be released). NBA2K has pretty much done what Madden has done with football games and that is has become the only game in town for its genre. 2k has finally realized that they are big time and they finally went out and got the biggest star in the NBA to grace their cover, and that’s LeBron James.
It’s crazy to think that this is LeBron’s first video game cover. They even put a retired Michael Jordan on the cover two years in a row. but now LeBron? Last year’s cover was a little weird with Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant & Blake Griffin all on the same cover. Having 3 stars on it seemed like a good idea but with the fact that none of them didn’t even make it past the 2nd round of the playoffs says something. LeBron James has been considered one of the best players in the league pretty much since he first came into the league so it’s crazy that this is his first cover.
This game will even include a “King James Bonus Pack”. I’m definitely excited about this game and this commercial has me even more hype. It doesn’t matter if you’re a basketball fan (like myself ) or a video game fan (like myself) you’re gonna wanna try this one. October 1 2013 it’s going down.
