Maybe Russell Brand was the perfect fit for “Arthur” after all.
In an interview with Vogue Magazine, Katy Perry revealed she learned of her divorce through a text. According to Entertainment Weekly’s Pop Watch, Perry told Vogue that Brand requested a divorce through a text on New Year’s Eve in 2011. An immature move on Brand’s part. It was also low of Mr. Brand.
Perry and Brand did get a divorce in 2012. Perry believes Brand wanted more control, and that may have been one of the reasons for the divorce. According to the Los Angeles Times, Perry said, “At first when I met him, he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal, and they’re like I can’t handle the equalness.”
Another startling revelation made by Perry in Vogue was that her relationship with John Mayer may have been more serious than people thought. According to PerezHilton.com, Perry told Vogue, “I was madly in love with him. I am still madly in love with him. All I can say about that relationship is that he’s got a beautiful mind. Beautiful mind, tortured soul. I do have to figure out why I am attracted to these broken birds.”
The past two relationships appear to be inspiration for some of Perry’s latest work. According to the Los Angeles Times, Perry gave Vogue a sneak peek “Bad Photographs” and “Broken Birds”, which Perry said are both songs about break-ups.
Perry’s last startling revelation was about her childhood. She told Vogue that she was beaten by her parents, and she still has trouble reading, as she did not get much schooling.
For now, Perry is content to be single. She knows that she has to be patient, and is confident she will one day find the “one”.
