The royal baby has arrived, and it’s a boy.

According to CNN, the baby boy was born at 4:24 p.m. local time Monday, and weighed 8 pounds and 6 ounces. The boy will be third in line to the throne.

Around the world, people are captivated by the royal couple. President Obama, England’s Prime Minister David Cameron, and leaders from Australia, Canada, France, Iran, Japan, New Zealand, Scotland, and Russia all offered congrats and their best wishes to the royal couple. Even residents of Jamaica and Barbados congratulated the royal couple, Sky News reported. Both are members of the Commonwealth.

Celebrities got involved as well. Actor Stephen Fry made fun of the way England announces what gender the royal baby is, William Shatner said he was glad it was a boy, and many other stars congratulated the royal couple.

Prince William and Kate walked out of St. Mary’s Hospital and introduced their royal baby to the world Tuesday. The crowd outside the hospital provided a warm welcome. According to the Washington Post, Prince William told reporters that their son has a healthy set of lungs.

After the much anticipated birth, it was only natural to ask the royal couple what was the name they decided on. Prince William told the media that they are still working on it. Prince William said, “We will have that as soon as we can. It’s the first time we have seen him really, so we are having a proper chance to catch up.”

While one mystery will be answered (the name of the royal baby), another mystery remains to be solved. Why is it that so many people around the world are infatuated with the royal couple of England? According to BBC, there were more than 25,000 tweets per minute about the royal baby. Maybe it is because of the connections that countries have with England, whether it is being a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, alliances, or historical ties. Maybe it is because Prince William is the son of the late Princess Diana, whom was very popular with the world. Or perhaps it is a distraction that many people look for in a stressful time.
