To land a role in the movie “Nymphomaniac”, actor Shia LaBeouf said he had to take a picture of his penis.
The role LaBeouf was after was “Jerome” in the controversial film by Lars Von Trier. The production team made the bizarre request for the sexually-charged drama film.
LaBeouf, star of the Michael Bay’s Transformers trilogy, said the first information received by his team was the request; something they’re not likely to forget anytime soon. He said the request didn’t actually come from Lars himself; it was from the production team.
LaBeouf isn’t the shy type, and sent the picture and landed the lead role.
“Jerome”, he said, is different from anything he’s ever acted in before. He said his career has consisted of being the everyman or a normal male caught in an unusual circumstance. To play Jerome, he gets to play an evil, greasy, offensive type of man. LaBeouf said all scenes he had to read as Jerome were influential. He said he jumped at the opportunity to be a part of a “dark project”.
Lars Von Trier is a Danish director, and he has split “Nymphomanic” into two parts, which will run five hours. The movie stars LaBeouf, Christian Slater, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jamie Bell and Stellan Skarsgard. The installments will be released in theaters March 21nd and April 3rd of this year.
