A couple of Hip-hop founding fathers are set to be shown a red carpet treatment on Wednesday the 12th of March at the New York’s City Hall. The event Will be presided by Councilman Fernando Cabrera with a New York City Council Proclamation.
Reports indicate that the list of the legends to be honoured will include Kurtis Blow, Melle Mel, Afrika Bambaata, Joe Conzo, Grand Wizard Theodore, Cutman LG, Rocky Bucano and Jorge Fable Pabon.
The late Pete “DJ” Jones, well known for being the first to use two turntables and two copies of vinyl which later became the standard for DJs will also be recognized with a tribute. Pete passed away in January this year.
“Pete gave many of the pioneers of Hip-Hop Culture a platform to showcase their talent,” Cabrera’s office stated in the event announcement.
