”Toy Story” became legendary when it hit the silver screen in 1995. It opened the doors for a new style and sophistication of animation and cemented Pixar as one of the main players in children’s (and adults) cinema. Since then two sequels have been released and ”Toy Story 4” has had a release date of 2018 confirmed. It has now been confirmed that Oscar winning actress Patricia Arquette will be adding her vocal talents to film number 4.
Patricia Arquette, a member of the Arquette acting family that includes Rosanna Arquette and David Arquette (known for being the ex spouse of Courtney Cox, and for his role as Deputy Duey in the ”Scream” films). She became notable through her performance in ”A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors” and from their roles followed in ”True Romance”, ”Ed Wood” and a multitude of other critically acclaimed films. Arquette is also known for her leading role in the TV series ”Medium”. Recently she has been seen in ”Boyhood” (for which she won an Oscar for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role), ”Boardwalk Empire” and ”CSI/CSI:Cyber”. There is no doubting Arquettes abilities, but can this be transferred into a voice acting role?
Arquette will be performing alongside ”Toy Story” family such as Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Annie Potts and Joan Cusack. ”Toy Story 4” focuses on cowboy Woody and spaceman Buzz tracking down Bo Peep, who has previously been given away. As with previous films this reeks of a message around family, friendship and loyalty and there has been some talk amongst fans that the studio is dragging out a storyline that should have ended with ”Toy Story 3”. Whether or not this is true remains to be seen, and similar talks were had prior to ”Toy Story 3” which was a smash hit at the box office and amongst fans and critics alike.
John Lasseter returns as director and executive producer, reprising the roles he had on the previous ”Toy Story” films as well as ”A Bugs Life”, ”Cars” and ”Cars 2”, amongst a myriad of Disney/Pixar production credits. Josh Cooley, known mainly as being a writer on this years hugely successful ”Inside Out” is on board as a co – director alongside Lasseter.
”Toy Story 4” is set to hit cinemas in July 2018.
