Hailing from Upstate New York, Producer Chuck Olsen has a unique sound. With the use of drawn out strings, heavy bass, drums and plucking sounds, he crafts music for all different kinds of settings. His latest EP, Blurred Ambitions, dropped earlier this month.
From the conscious-like song “Changes” to party jam,”Get it Going,” Olsen often pairs up-and-coming rappers like Y&R and Isaiah Velez to his beats well. Songs like “Basement Nights” prove to be an example of this as he brings singers and rappers on the beat. “LaLaLa” also proves to be a standout favorite with its laid back yet fun vibes. Although I probably could have done without the uninspiring “Money Talks” featuring Ave.
The album, which was created over a year, is supposed to portray “going through a number of changes and adapting to a new life,” according to the press release.
“The album itself represents a transformation as well as a progression in his work as a producer. Its imperfections are meant to show all of our own imperfections and struggles on a fundamental level. At the same time though it is meant to be very positive and something that would appeal to anyone with a college style – after all, art reflects life,” it reads.
