With Star Wars: The Force Awakens just two weeks away from taking over the world, breaking box-office records, and ushering forth a new generation of stars, Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o recalls how she was cast in the role and what it meant to her…

“I was on the way to the beach and all of sudden J.J.’s on the phone. I asked to see the script and they flew someone to Morocco with the script so I could read it. I was immediately interested in the character. I like to get lost in the transformation and I felt like this character would offer me that.”

Artist Nikkolas thought Lupita would make a fantastic Asajj Ventress and imagined just that.

However, when pressed to elaborate on the specifics of her role, Nyong’o, like everyone else in the cast, fell in line with the veil of secrecy and offered very little up.

“I can say that she’s strong and has a colorful past and that’s it before they shoot me down”, replied.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters everywhere on December 18th.
