Charlie Funk Attempts to Serenade Women in ‘Sexy Cutie’ Video

Charlie Funk’s last name ain’t funk for no reason. His latest single, “Sexy Cutie” off of his EP, Give Me a Groove, is just that — funky.

Although the band, P-FUNK ALL-STARS, provides some stellar background sounds, the simplistic lyrics lend to the idea that there’s some untapped potential in Funk’s music.

“I like to thank mom and poppa for what they had / Girl you’re so sweet and bad / From the top of your head to your feet / You’re the apple of my eye,” sings Funk before he starts to name off sweet thangs — sugar, honey, ice cream and cake.

We mentioned his band before — Michael “Kidd Funkadelic” Hampton, and Amp Fiddler and horn Arrangements by Mac Gollehon (Nile Rodgers, David Bowie, Simply Red) are just some of the brains behind the vibes. The aforementioned song was also co-written by Tomás Doncker and Josh David.

Overall, there’s funkadelic vibes to be had for all. Especially when the video gives us moments like this:

Oh, hello.
