There’s something to be said for living life in the public eye. Often, the people who dedicate their lives to making other happy, are suffering themselves. Mental illness is still not an issue we talk about enough. I say this as a woman with diagnosed mental issues and a family who refuses to acknowledge it.
The stigma of mental illness is especially negative in the urban community. It’s as if we’ve been so traumatized by life just growing up in “the hood” that we force a mental toughness on ourselves. So many have taken their lives, hiding their battles with depression, mental illness and mind altering drugs.
All gone too soon. There has to be a better way to stop the pain. R.I.P.
