In celebration of their hot summer comedies Insecure and Ballers, HBO has partnered with TRAP Karaoke, a user-generated entertainment company putting guests at the center of the show. The HBO x TRAP Karaoke tour will stop in Cincinnati on July 6th (Bogart’s), Charlotte on July 13th (The Fillmore), and wrap up in Houston on July 19th (White Oak Music Hall). Since its launch in 2015, TRAP Karaoke continues to sell out venues across the country to audiences looking for a hip-hop/R&B interactive experience.
TRAP Karaoke is about personal empowerment, cultural participation, cherished moments, community, and creating a safe space for human connection.
“TRAP Karaoke fans are going to love the opportunity to celebrate the new seasons of two of HBO’s most relevant and iconic shows, especially with members from the cast. I’m a huge fan of both series and I can’t wait to bring the combo of HBO and TRAP to these cities,” says founder Jason Mowatt.
“Cincinnati, Charlotte, and Houston are three of the top performing markets for Ballers and Insecure, so we wanted to bring the show to our devoted fans in these cities,” he goes on to mention the reasons why these cities were chosen for the tour.
Each event will also feature a locally-based speed artist who will paint artwork that will be donated to a local community organization along with a financial donation from HBO.
The three charities they’re working with are The Ronald McDonald House in Cincinnati; Freedom School Partnership in Charlotte and in Houston, the Children’s Charity.
Ballers look at the lives of former and current football players, following former superstar Spencer Strasmore (Dwayne Johnson), who has reinvented himself as a financial manager for current players in sun-soaked Miami.
Insecure, starring Issa Rae, Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis and Lisa Joyce, follows the friendship of two black women as they deal with their own real-life flaws while attempting to navigate different worlds and cope with an endless series of uncomfortable everyday experiences.
