We’ve been hearing about Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, which quite enticingly teams Robert De Niro with both Al Pacino and Joe Pesci, for some time now. And with each new bit of information from the production that’s trickled down into headlines, we’ve come one step closer to a day in which we would mercifully receive a proper teaser trailer for the revered director’s latest crime drama.
That day is today. Up top, catch the new The Irishman trailer.
The movie opens this fall in select theaters and on Netflix. It will also open the New York Film Festival in September.
The presumed hit, based on the novel I Heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brandt, boasts a script from Moneyball‘s Steven Zaillian and lays out its post-war meditation on organized crime from the perspective of hitman Frank Sheeran (De Niro). From there, the still-baffling disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa enters the story, which notably spans several decades with some digital de-aging assistance.
The Irishman also stars Jesse Plemons, Bobby Cannavale, Anna Paquin, Harvey Keitel, Ray Romano, and more.
