Top celebrities get to enjoy a lifestyle that takes them all over the world, and this, in turn, opens their eyes to some of the most luxurious and exciting places on the planet.
One area which has proven particularly attractive to the rich and famous in the last couple of decades is undoubtedly the United Arab Emirates – a country that has seen significant growth and development and is now home to some stunning cities.
Dubai is undoubtedly one of them, with the location’s incredible architecture and state-of-the-art facilities meaning it offers an impressive quality of life. As such, many celebrities have gone on to buy properties in the city and here we take a look at the key areas they like to call home.
1. Palm Jumeirah
Arguably the most famous area in Dubai, these man-made islands are a stunning, unique and stylish location – and it is not a huge surprise to discover that many stars have visited properties in the area. David and Victoria Beckham are believed to own a villa on the islands, while Architectural Digest reports that Bollywood stars Shilpa Shetty and Shahrukh Khan are thought to have stayed in villas and mansions in the location. The latter’s property is reported to include six bedrooms and a private beach.
But how much would it cost for you to experience life in the area? According to Bayut’s guide to the Palm Jumeirah, annual rents for a studio apartment on the island can start from AED 60,000 – which equates to a relatively reasonable £12,500. Local attractions include the Atlantis, The Palm hotel and its Aquaventure Waterpark.
2. Burj Khalifa
A structure that should really require no introduction, the stunning Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world and stands at more than 820 metres in height. It is a feat of engineering brilliance and is a real centrepiece in the city, which means it should be unsurprising that it has attracted interest from celebrities.
Funnily enough, a couple of names already mentioned have been linked with the building in the past, as it is understood Shilpa Shetty has sold an apartment in the building in recent years. Furthermore, there is plenty of speculation online that the Beckhams have a home within the iconic tower, which is also the location of the incredible Armani Hotel.
3. Jumeirah Golf Estates
A stunning area, which combines first-class golfing facilities with incredible homes, Jumeirah Golf Estates boast more than 1,100 hectares of landscape and features around 1,800 homes ranging from apartments to villas and townhouses.
It is understood that Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has a property in this area with her husband Abhishek Bachchan, with Architectural Digest estimating that the property may be valued at up to AED 35 million – which equates to around £7.3 million.
A land of luxury
In recent years, Dubai has undoubtedly developed a strong reputation as one of the most luxurious places on the planet, so it is unsurprising that celebrities have chosen to embrace everything it has to offer.
The locations above are truly fantastic and it will be intriguing to see if any other famous names head to that part of the world in the months and years ahead. To be honest, we suspect more have already – they’ve just managed to keep it on the down-low.
