Liquor stores across the nation are now running out of vodka amid the Coronavirus breakout. It was previously reported that toilet paper was also flying off of the shelves due to the virus.
It seems like people are becoming even more resourceful. In addition to hand gels and wet wipes, people grabbing bottles of vodka from their local liquor stores in order to concoct their own, homemade sanitizer to combat the virus.
However, there’s a specific brand that’s most potent and flying faster than the rest — Everclear 190-proof, the brand used traditionally for Jell-O shots, and now anticipated to kill the novel virus.
With one of its clerks telling them they’ve sold 40 bottles in two days, Seattle’s Downtown Spirits have completely run out of the liquor, more than twice what they normally sell. They explained, “They’re buying it for the sanitizer.”
The site also notes that another store, Broadway Spirits in Manhattan’s TriBeCa, also had customers phoning in ahead to confirm if the brand was still in stock. The clerk on duty, spoke with the site and told them they’re expected to begin back ordering, due to the increased demand.
