Due to “fact check” controversy on Twitter, President Donald Trump has set the internet in flames as he threatens to shut down social media platforms.
Even though he is very active on the said platform, he is ready to shut Twitter down, among others, as he accuses them of silencing conservative viewpoints.
He took to Twitter, blasting, “Republicans feel that Social Media Platforms totally silence conservatives voices. We will strongly regulate, or close them down, before we can ever allow this to happen. We saw what they attempted to do, and failed, in 2016. We can’t let a more sophisticated version of that….”
He continues, “…. happen again. Just like we can’t let large scale Mail-In Ballots take root in our Country. It would be a free for all on cheating, forgery and the theft of Ballots. Whoever cheated the most would win. Likewise, Social Media. Clean up your act, NOW!!!!”
The proposal shines a light on previous investigations into Silicon Valley tech giants who’ve played roles in multiple antitrust cases, although it is unclear how exactly Trump and his administration could crack down on platforms.
