As a lot of people know, the nominations for the 2021 Grammy Awards was publicized last month.
There were a lot of diverse reviews following the nominations. Some artists even called out the Recording Academy after they saw that their work had not been nominated.
Lil Wayne seems to be added to that list of celebrities. He had a few questions after realizing that he was not “involved nor invited” to music’s biggest night.
Lil Wayne took to Twitter and said, “As an artist, when I see da Grammys coming up and I’m not invited nor involved. I wonder, is it me, my music, or just another technicality? I look around with respect and wonder competitively am I not worthy? Then I look around and see 5 Grammys looking back at me and I go to the studio.”
Drake, who came up under Lil Wayne’s Young Money label, weighed in on the Grammys conversation, as many people expressed their disappointment about being snubbed.
Last month, in an Instagram story post, Drake said, “I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artists that exist now and the ones that come after. It’s like a relative you keep expecting to fix up but they just can’t change their ways.”
