The idea of moving to a new house during the ongoing pandemic is sure to cause some increased levels of anxiety for some people reading this and beyond. While we can recognise that this is very much the case, there are ways available to assist in making this time as stressful free as possible, during a time when things are very much out of the ordinary.

If you are someone who is in the process of organising a house move during the pandemic and are looking for some Covid-19 safe ways of doing just that, you are in luck! Detailed below is an easy-to-read list of three of the top tips for doing just that.

While these will be only some of the tips that are available out there, they are some of the most important ones to consider during such a time. Read on for more!

  1. Consider How You Are Viewing the Property: Naturally, like most other aspects of our lives, viewings of properties have been moved to the online world for the most part. With the development of technology, this has become readily more available and is sure to have revolutionised how house viewings more forward beyond the pandemic are conducted. While this is undoubtedly an option available to many of those looking to move to a new home during the pandemic, there are also options on offer for those who prefer to have a house viewing traditionally. In line with government guidance on moving to a new house during the pandemic, the rules are very much similar to that of going to the local essential supermarket for some groceries; wear a mask if you are not exempt, and maintain social distancing throughout. Some estate agents are also asking that potential homeowner’s book appointments rather than just attending a branch. Possessing an understanding of which avenue you would like to go down, is one of the best things to consider when deciding to move houses.
  1. Moving and Storing Your Belongings: This is a top tip that should be considered whether moving to a new house during a pandemic or beyond that. Keeping your belongings safe and ensuring that they will not get damaged or lost in transit is of utmost importance and not something anyone wants to experience. Making a plan of what you will do regarding storing your belongings leaves you with one less thing to worry about. Storage facilities, provided by businesses like Safestore, are available up and down the country; we are confident that you will find something within an ideal distance of your existing or future home and within a budget. Not to mention, using the services of a self-storage unit, and transporting your belongings yourself, can make sure that they do not get damaged and limits any unnecessary contact that you don’t want with others.
  1. Stay Calm: While this can undoubtedly seem like something that seems easier said than done, especially during such an unprecedented time, it is still essential and should be considered during the moving process. There will often feel like more things need to be completed, even after completing other tasks. Remembering to take time to relax and stay calm, more so, in the face of challenging situations, will ensure that you can get through this period of your life successfully. What’s more, there are plenty of resources and services available to support you in moving to a new house during the pandemic. Not to mention, you are sure to not be the only one in your position, and most probably will not be the last.
