Future’s “Mask Off,” and the contagious flute featured in the album, took the music world by storm only a few years ago. The song is only one of many in which the woodwind instrument plays a prominent role. It’s a quality that drew the attention of Kid Cudi and a few Saturday Night Live cast members during a tribute to “the strange little flute.” Cudi, Pete Davidson, and Chris Redd teamed up for a song in which they all flaunt their flutes and share their love for them. Timothée Chalamet joins in on the enjoyable musical sketch later in the skit.
Cudi was also the musical guest for the SNL episode in addition to the sketch. Cudi performed “Sad People” and “Tequila Shots,” with the former catching the attention of most viewers as he walked on stage wearing an Off-White floral dress that looked strikingly similar to Kurt Cobain’s. Following the performance, Cudi shared his intention with the dress in a pair of tweets. “Virgil designed the dress for me. I told him I wanted to show love to Kurt w a floral print sundress and this man made a masterpiece,” he said. “Thank You @virgilabloh ur a f*ckin genius!! Love you man we did it!!!” In a second tweet, he added, “Im doin a collection w Off White and the dress will be included!!”
