This week’s Indiecast begins with a discussion of Mick Jagger and Dave Grohl’s latest collaboration single, which is a really goofy moment in rock history. The discussion then transitions to the mailbag section, which poses the issue of which indie artists should follow Taylor Swift’s lead and revisit their earlier work.
The focus of this week’s episode is on new albums from The Armed and Greta Van Fleet, with the former earning their moniker as the most jacked band since Manowar. What about the latter? Not at all.
In almost diametrically opposite respects, both bands are representative of a peculiar moment in the contemporary mainstream rock landscape. The Armed is evocative of mainstream hard rock’s heyday, one of the most commercially popular genres in history. Greta Van Fleet, on the other hand, is a ridiculous band that is almost endearing and constantly entertaining to interact with.
