If you like Lil Durk and the late King Von, you’ve probably heard them both rap about growing up in Chicago’s Parkway Gardens, also known as the “O Block.” O Block is well-known for being one of Chicago’s largest and most infamous affordable housing complexes, as well as for housing some of the city’s most famous residents. In addition to Von and Durk, Michelle Obama, the former First Lady, lived in the O. The complex is reportedly for sale and searching for a new owner, according to news accounts from The Chicago Sun-Times. Durk shocked fans today by responding to a tweet from Kollege Kidd’s blog, announcing his intention to become the new owner.
I’ll buy it don’t matter how much it is

O Block is a large property that, in the hands of the right owner, may make a significant difference in the low-income community. The area is also notorious for its gun and gang activity, and Durk, as a future owner, maybe a positive force in the community. O Block currently has 694 apartments spread over nearly three dozen houses. Not only that, but the 13-acre complex extends between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Calumet Avenue, from 63rd to 65th streets (the route Von always rapped about). The Affordable Housing Advisors don’t have an asking price listed, and there is no word yet on if Durk has made contact with them to make the purchase. We love to see rappers buy back their block!
