In April 2020, just weeks after the US went into lockdown, Global Citizen enlisted the help of many musicians for their One World: Together At Home livestream, which aimed to encourage people to quarantine. But, now that it’s safe to resume operations, Global Citizen decided to offer a taste of post-vaccine life with Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World, a large-scale in-person event. Several spectacular performances were featured at the festival, including an epic cover of the classic hit “Back In Black” by AC/DC and Foo Fighters members.
For the cover of AC/1980 DC’s hit, Dave Grohl and his band joined AC/singer DC’s Brian Johnson. The show was held at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, and Foo Fighters were able to perform a six-song set in front of an audience of 27,000 people, many of whom were healthcare or critical employees.
Along with the AC/DC reunion, the Vax Live stage hosted a number of well-known acts. J. Lo performed at the festival, taking her 75-year-old mother out on stage to sing “Sweet Caroline” with her. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also made a brief appearance, as they served as campaign chairs at the event. “Tonight is a celebration of each of you here, the vaccinated frontline workers in the audience, and the millions of frontline heroes around the world,” Prince Harry told the crowd.
