According to reports, the Atlanta police officer who was fired after shooting and killing Rayshard Brooks in a Wendy’s parking lot on June 12, 2020 has been reinstated.
Former Officer Garrett Rolfe was wrongfully discharged, according to the Atlanta Civil Service Board. “The Board finds that the Appellant was denied his right to due process due to the City’s failure to comply with certain sections of the Code and the facts obtained during witnesses’ testimony. As a result, the Board GRANTS Garrett Rolfe’s Appeal and revokes his dismissal as an APD employee,” the organization said in a statement to CNN.
Rolfe subsequently has been reinstated, but he has been placed on administrative leave from the Atlanta Police Department as he still faces murder charges.
