Despite the fact that The Weeknd’s album After Hours was released in 2019, it appears to have a major influence on mainstream music: Last week, a new version of “Save Your Tears” featuring Ariana Grande reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 list. The single is now in the No. 1 position for the second week in a row on the May 15 list.
As a refresher, “Save Your Tears” is The Weeknd’s and Grande’s sixth No. 1 album, following “Can’t Feel My Face,” “The Hills,” “Starboy,” “Heartless,” and “Blinding Lights” for the former and “Thank U, Next,” “7 Rings,” “Stuck With U,” “Rain On Me,” and “Positions” for the latter. After Hours is also the first album since Drake’s Scorpion in 2018 to have three No. 1 singles. Grande is also only the second artist after Paul McCartney to have three No. 1 duets: “Stuck With U” and “Rain On Me” are duets with Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, respectively.
Elsewhere on the chart, Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak’s Silk Sonic single “Leave The Door Open” continues to hover around the top at No. 2, Billie Eilish’s “Your Power” premieres at No. 9, and The Kid Laroi and Miley’s Cyrus’ “Without You” rises to its new peak at No. 10.
