Lemonade was released in 2016, so it’s been a while since we’ve had a new Beyonce album. She has, however, released two new albums since then, both of which are not solo efforts: she and Jay-Z collaborated as The Carters on Everything Is Love in 2018, and she collaborated with a number of artists on The Lion King: The Gift, a 2019 soundtrack album. Not to mention, she recently appeared on DJ Khaled’s new album in a minor role. She now appears to be working on new stuff.
Michelle Williams, Beyonce’s Destiny’s Child bandmate, posted an audio recording of a group chat involving Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, and herself the other day. Rowland mentions making soup during the discussion, and Beyonce replies, “I’m cooking some music.” “That’s Chef Boyar-B and Chef Boy-Kelly,” she continued, laughing.
Beyonce recently sent a sweet message to mark the fifth anniversary of Lemonade. “I’m grateful that this body of work has resonated so profoundly with so many people,” she wrote beside a portfolio of pictures. I’m so thankful for all the beautiful souls involved in making one of my favorite pieces of art. As I celebrate five years of LEMONADE, I encourage everyone to continue healing, loving, forgiving and uplifting. I hope you find joy today.”
