McDonald’s’ BTS Meal, named after the record-breaking Korean band, includes 10 Chicken McNuggets, medium fries, a Coke, and two dipping sauces: sweet chili and cajun. It’s as popular as the group itself, so much so that a single BTS Meal McNugget that looks like one of the crewmates from the murder mystery party game Among Us is going for nearly $100,000 on eBay. It’s the ideal mix of music, video games, cuisine, and spending a ridiculous amount of money on a novelty item.
However, the McNugget wasn’t always $99,897.00. According to eBay seller polizna, it was previously posted for $0.99 before going viral owing to its “unmistakable association with the genuine character, even featuring an odd bulge on the back that would represent the bag.” It also helps to have a BTS connection. If you want to be the 184th (!) bidder on the nugget, you’ll have to act fast: the auction finishes in 11 hours, as of this writing.
“I had figured it would get somewhere around $50 but nothing like this,” polizna said. “There are some people out there who *would* pay some absurd price for a McDonald’s chicken nugget, but I don’t think the final bidder will actually go through with the purchase as there are lots of people who bid on things like this for the ‘memes.’”
