Barack & Michelle Obama Have Announced A Netflix Animated Series To Teach Kids About Government

Our favorite pairing will always be Despite the fact that Barack and Michelle Obama are no longer in the White House (sadly), they are still quite busy with a variety of projects as part of their multi-million dollar Netflix deal. Barack and Michelle Obama recently unveiled their new Netflix animated series, which will teach youngsters all about the government, in an effort to teach them the ins and outs of politics at a young age.

Entertainment Weekly reports, Barack and Michelle Obama are the executive producers of their upcoming Netflix animated series, ‘We The People,’ which is a 10-episode series specifically for educating children on the United States government. The series is described as “an exuberant call to action for everyone to rethink civics as a living, breathing thing and to reframe their understanding of what government and citizenship mean in a modern world.”‘We The People’ (also executive produced by Kenya Barris and created by the writer of ‘Doc McStuffins) will drop exclusively on Netflix on July 4th.

H.E.R., Janelle Monae, Andra Day, Daveed Diggs, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and poet Amanda Gorman are among the musicians who will contribute original songs to the animated series. ‘We The People’ will have a free showing at the AFI DOCS film festival on June 24th, just a few weeks before its Netflix launch. Barack and Michelle Obama have a number of projects in the works as part of their exclusive deal with Netflix to create original content.
