Rapper OTF DThang, the older brother of Lil Durk, was shot and died outside a nightclub in suburban Chicago, according to reports. He was 32 years old at the time.
DThang, whose real name is Dontay Banks Jr., was shot in the head in front of a club in Harvey, Illinois, according to a witness. He was said to have died on the spot. According to the New York Daily News, authorities have not confirmed the cause of death, and an autopsy will be undertaken to get that information.
This is the latest tragedy to befall Lil Durk’s inner circle, whose true name is Durk Derrick Banks, a Chicago native. King Von, a labelmate of Lil Durk’s, was shot and died in Chicago in November 2020. Turn Me Up Josh, the producer, was found deceased last week, though no details have been released. OTF Nuski, Lil Durk’s cousin, was murdered and killed in the same city seven years earlier, only two days after signing a record deal.
Worse yet for Lil Durk, according to Complex magazine, the two brothers had recently launched their joint rap effort, The Voice of Heroes, which features guest stars Travis Scott, Meek Mill, Young Thug, and Rod Wave.
Lil Durk has yet to speak publicly about the reported death of his brother, but tributes have been pouring in from across the hip-hop world.
