Kelly Clarkson has had her own daytime talk show, appropriately dubbed The Kelly Clarkson Show, for nearly two years. Over the course of 300+ episodes, the show has produced several memorable moments, including a conversation with Seth Rogen about a famous The 40-Year-Old Virgin line, a hilarious poop anecdote, and an unpleasant Vin Diesel moment. “Kellyoke,” in which Clarkson and her band perform a cover, is a regular staple of the show. The chosen music for today’s show was Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License.”
Clarkson is an accomplished vocalist, so she naturally nailed it. Clarkson’s band gave the music a more rock-oriented spin, which works well with both Clarkson’s pop-rock sound and some of Rodrigo’s more guitar-based tracks on his Sour album. Clarkson got to the emotional core of the song even in the shortened-for-TV version, even if the feeling of just earning her driver’s license isn’t as fresh in her mind these days.
Clarkson isn’t the only high-profile figure to focus their attention on Rodrigo lately. Kyle MacLachlan recently turned in a wonderful Rodrigo cosplay, while Zooey Deschanel looked back at Rodrigo’s previous acting role on New Girl.
