The first official teaser for Masters of the Universe: Revelation was released last week, and fans were ecstatic to see Kevin Smith’s take on He-Man. Few individuals can bring a beloved animation back to life while still incorporating the Footloose music, but Smith did it. The internet, on the other hand, can be a double-edged sword. While the show garnered an overwhelmingly good response on social media, dissatisfied theories about Smith’s direction began to emerge, and he was having none of it.
Smith did his best to answer Internet rumors during the newest episode of his Fatman Beyond podcast, but he noted that because the Masters of the Universe relaunch is Netflix and Mattel’s “toy,” he can only say so much. Despite what fan theories say, he wanted to reassure viewers that the show will feature plenty of He-Man. courtesy of a comic book
One popular theory suggested that He-Man would take a backseat to Teela and her girlfriend, but Smith refuted this. While the show gives Teela a big role, it is “all about He-Man,” according to the showrunners.
A full story trailer will be revealed closer to the show’s premiere, according to Smith, and he claims it will address questions and (hopefully) clear up any misconceptions. “Everything will make perfect sense after you watch the tale trailer, kids. “Anyone who says, ‘I heard it’s this,’ you’ll say, ‘Oh, I see,’” Smith explained. “I can’t say everyone will like it because some people are invested in their feelings, but I really like the plot trailer.”
Masters of the Universe: Revelation starts streaming July 23 on Netflix.
