With Loki now halfway through its six-episode run, Disney+ has released a new mid-season trailer that gives fans a sneak peek at what’s to come in the finale. While the first half of the trailer recaps the first three episodes of Loki, things pick up as it becomes clear that the Time Variance Authority has caught up with Loki and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), prompting a funny exchange in which Loki is insulted that Sylvie requires more guards to detain her than he does. Mobius (Owen Wilson) is continuing encouraging Loki to embrace his good side, as the words “Every Loki has their time” play over the trailer.
That phrase could be interpreted in a variety of ways. The use of the pronoun “their” makes the entire statement gender-neutral, which accords with the show’s big, and arguably belated, confirmation that Loki is gender-fluid and bisexual. Even if we don’t know if Sylvie is genuinely a Loki Variant, it literally puts both Loki and Sylvie into play. According to the trailer’s heavy-handed usage of Mobius still trying to reach Loki, the Trickster God could embrace his heroic side by the conclusion of the season, or go in the opposite path, since there’s a quick glimpse of him dominating Asgard.
Of course, the “Every Loki has their time” line could also be referring to Sylvie and a possible expansion of her role in the MCU, and how this is her time to emerge as a force to be reckoned with. Or most likely, in the most literal use of the word “their,” both Loki and Sylvie will each have defining moments in the back half of the reality-bending Disney+ series.
