Madonna Reacts To Lil Nas X’s BET Awards Onstage Kiss: ‘Did It First’

At this year’s BET Awards, there were a lot of spectacular performances, some of which were among the show’s highlights. One of them was Lil Nas X’s sensual performance of “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” in which the singer kissed one of his male backup dancers at the end of his set, which became far more controversial than it should have been.

The kiss elicited a variety of comments, the most recent of which came from Madonna, who used her Instagram Story to offer her opinions. She tweeted a photo of Lil Nas kissing Christina Aguilera onstage alongside a photo of her own legendary kiss with Christina Aguilera at the 2003 MTV VMAs. “#diditfirst,” she wrote in the caption. It’s clear that Lil Nas was affected by that moment in 2003, thus Madonna’s intention behind the post wasn’t to belittle the singer.

Madonna’s post comes after Lil Nas shared his own reaction to those who were not too happy with Sunday night’s kiss. “Since y’all still doing all this over a kiss imma just f*ck the n**** on stage next time,” he tweeted on Tuesday.
