Olivia Rodrigo had a fantastic year in 2021. Sour, her debut album, has recently been named Spotify’s most-streamed album of the year, topping Justin Bieber’s Justice in the seven weeks after its release. Rodrigo has also had a blockbuster single, “Drivers License,” which spent a lot of time at the top of the singles chart, including eight weeks at No. 1 at the start of the year. Sour has reclaimed his position at the top.
Rodrigo recaptured the top spot on the July 17 chart, owing to 88,000 album units sold. This is the first time Sour has topped the charts without selling more over 100,000 units per week. Overall, the album has failed to reach six-digit sales for the second week in a row, after doing so for the first five weeks on the Billboard 200. Rodrigo’s return to the top spot follows the publication of her performance DVD, Sour Prom, which featured several of the album’s tracks.
The top 10 of charts for this year’s Billboard 200 have not featured too many brand new albums and it continues this week, with G Herbo’s 25 being the lone debut. The album checked in at No. 5, making it the Chicago rapper’s highest-debuting album.
