Blackground Records announced on Thursday that Aaliyah’s music would be available on Spotify. Tank, Toni Braxton, Timbaland, and Magoo’s albums are now expected to be released. “Toni Braxton’s “Libra” album will be available on all major digital streaming platforms on October 1st,” Blackground Records stated on Instagram. Tank’s albums “Force of Nature,” “One Man,” and “Sex, Love & Pain” will be accessible on all major digital streaming platforms on September 17th,” they added.
If Toni and Tank’s albums weren’t enough to get folks excited, Timbaland and Magoo’s albums “Welcome to Our World,” “Indecent Proposal,” “Tim Bio,” and “Under Construction” will be available on streaming platforms beginning August 27th. This comes after the albums were unavailable to fans for decades.
Aaliyah’s discography will be available beginning August 20th, with “One in a Million” being the first to drop. Aaliyah’s songs is being released at the same time that Barry is resurrecting Blackground Records. As previously reported, Barry spoke exclusively to The Shade Room about the return of his label–which gave us Timbaland’s “Shock Value II” in 2009 before taking a more than 10-year hiatus–and boasted about his new artist, who he claims can’t be compared to anyone else out there.
Barry tells us that he relocated Blackground to Atlanta after meeting so many brilliant musicians who couldn’t find a means to release their songs. This motivated him to resurrect Blackground as ‘Blackground Records 2.0′ and continue doing what they do, which he describes as “pushing young artists.”
