A week after delivering a bizarre rant that featured homophobic slurs and attacks on HIV/AIDS patients, DaBaby apologized for his statement. “I want to apologize to the LGBTQ+ community for my harsh and provocative words,” he said. “I apologize once more for making inaccurate remarks on HIV/AIDS, and I appreciate the necessity of education in this area.” Some questioned the validity of his apologies, but now that they’ve been deleted off his Instagram profile, they’ll appear much more credible.
According to a screenshot of DaBaby’s page that was shared on social media, the message had vanished. Even if DaBaby deleted the apology from his Instagram account on purpose, the vitriol he’s received since his words went viral will continue. Madonna, Elton John, Questlove, and Dua Lipa, with whom he remixed “Levitating,” have all rebuked him for his outburst.
DaBaby’s projected festival run in 2021 has been shortened as well, with Lollapalooza, Governors Ball, Day N Vegas, Austin City Limits, and other festivals dropping him from their lineups this year.
