Drake has collaborated with a diverse group of artists over the course of his career. While many have been successful, few have had the same connection with the Toronto rapper as Rick Ross. The duo has a long series of collaborations, many of which have received great feedback from fans when they are released. With that in mind, Drake’s love for Rick Ross is unsurprising, but his newest statements take things to a whole new level.
Rick Ross and Smiley, OVO Sound’s newest signee, met for the first time on Thursday, according to the Toronto rapper’s Instagram Story. “The greatest rapper alive met my favorite rapper alive,” Drake captioned the photo. While some may argue that Drake is the greatest rapper alive, Drake has had a front-row seat to Rick Ross’s work because to their many songs together. “Lemon Pepper Freestyle,” their most recent release, after hits including “Free Spirit,” “Stay Schemin” with French Montana, “Aston Martin Music,” “Diced Pineapples” with Wale, and others.
Drake’s comment comes after Rick Ross hinted about a possible Drake-Rick Ross collaborative album. He explained, “He’s winding up his endeavor, and I’m at the same space.” “So the stars are aligning and everything is falling into place. It’s something we’d like to provide to the streets on some actual sh*t.” He went on to say that the project’s release date is “looking real strong.”
