With his Justin Bieber collaboration “Stay,” The Kid Laroi achieved his first No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart last week. The record has now lived up to its moniker, remaining at No. 1 for the second week in a row on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated August 21.
Meanwhile, The Weeknd’s current track, “Take My Breath,” debuts at No. 6 on the chart, making it a remarkable debut. In other news, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good 4 U” has been at No. 2 for long time. In fact, it’s been at No. 2 for the longest time: Whitney Houston’s 1995 single “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)” is the only song to spend at least 11 weeks at No. 2.

That ties Whitney Houston's "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" for the most weeks at No. 2 of all time.
When “Stay” premiered at No. 1, Laroi and Bieber did their country proud: it is Bieber’s seventh No. 1, tying him with Drake for the most among Canadian musicians all-time. Meanwhile, since Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl,” Laroi’s “Stay” is the first song by an Australian-born solo male singer to top the Hot 100 in 40 years. He’s also the first Australian-born artist to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100 since Sia, who spent four weeks at the top with her Sean Paul collaboration “Cheap Thrills” in August 2016.
