Hovvdy, the Austin lo-fi band, has released two new tracks today: “Junior Day League” and “Around Again,” both of which feature music videos made by Hayden Hubner and Adam Alonzo, respectively. Both songs will be featured on the duo’s upcoming fourth album, True Love, which will be released on October 1 via Grand Jury. According to Will Taylor of Hovvdy, “‘Around Again’ lyrically moves between vast reflections and tiny memories.” “For me, the simplicity of the music and lyrics helped define this song. I’m grateful for Charlie and Andrew’s assistance in expanding and finishing it,” says the author.
Taylor also discussed the relaxing late-summer tune “Junior Day League,” describing it as “about being dazed on a fast day in a new town.” You’ve fallen in love with the people you’re with and the environment you’re in. Rather than attempting to control things, let them move around you.”
“It’s about resiliency and appreciating the little moments, even when the broader picture can be daunting,” Taylor said last month about the album’s title track, “True Love.” I’m proud of how we let the songs and the overall mood of the album do the heavy lifting. The excitement underlying the music is obvious even at melancholy moments, and that is what makes it special to me.”
