Following reports that Kanye West’s planned Donda listening event at Chicago’s Soldier Field stadium will not require confirmation of COVID-19 vaccines or a negative COVID test, Soldier Field reps assured TMZ that on-site vaccinations will be provided on the day of the event. Solider Field’s operator, ASM Global Management, teamed together with the city of Chicago to procure 1,500 doses of vaccines, split between the two-shot Pfizer version and the one-shot Johnson & Johnson formula. Officials from the Department of Health will assist anyone who receives the Pfizer dose in scheduling a second checkup.
A similar campaign at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where Kanye conducted the first two listening concerts, apparently only resulted in a modest number of vaccines, but with the Delta variety spreading, Chicagoans may be more keen to get vaccinated. Other safety precautions include a limited capacity of only 38,000 people in the 63,000-seat facility.
Kanye is reportedly throwing out all the stops to guarantee his hometown event has much more to see — including a facsimile of his childhood home that is reportedly being built on the stadium field. Fans have been lead to expect a more extravagant production than those who attended the Atlanta show. Hopefully, by the third event, he’ll be satisfied with the version of the album he’s presenting, because any further delays could cost him more than just stadium rental fees.
