If there’s one movie franchise that doesn’t need any more bad news, it’s Black Panther. The cast, on the other hand, appears to be having a hard time catching a break. According to Variety, Letitia Wright, who is most known for her role as T’Challa’s intelligent and self-assured sister Shuri in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, has been hospitalized following a stunt rig accident on the set of the film. Fortunately, a Marvel spokeswoman quickly confirmed that Wright’s injuries were mild, and provided the following update on her condition:
While filming a stunt for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Letitia Wright suffered minor injuries. She is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital and will be released soon.
According to the article, Wright’s injuries occurred while she was filming a nighttime sequence in Boston, away from their main location in Atlanta. According to the article, the tragedy will have no affect on the film’s filming schedule or its release date, which is still set for July 8, 2022.
The accident happened just a few weeks before the one-year anniversary of Black Widow star Chadwick Boseman’s death in late August, making the initial news all the more tragic. Wright, on the other hand, appears to be in good health, and production should resume soon. Marvel has yet to confirm whether Wright has been released from the hospital.
